NYFW 2018 Street Style Trends

If you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you saw that I’m currently in New York for fashion week! September fashion week in New York is my favorite, the weather is still warm and I love seeing all the Spring 2019 runway trends. I’ll be recapping my entire trip, including my favorite shows and some of my favorite spring trends I saw later this week, so stay tuned!

While the presentations and runway shows showcase trends for Spring/Summer 2019, I love seeing what everyone wears to the shows (aka Street Style)- which provides major outfit inspo for the current season and months ahead. Below I outlined some of my favorite street style trends I’ve seen so far during NYFW, some of which you may have seen me wear and some I can’t wait to try out this fall season.

Monochromatic Dressing: Typically a monochromatic look is all the same color, this season I love the idea of pairing different shades of the same color together. This trend helps you effortlessly pull an outfit together and take any look to the next level. Coordinating pieces in similar shades creates a polished finish and elevates any look. I saw so many bright monochrome looks, from lilac to bright pink fabrics. I can’t wait to try this trend with a pop of color this season!

Polka Dots: There’s seriously no such thing as too many polka dots! Polka dots are trending into the fall season, from tops to pants and even skirts. Heading into shows, I felt like this trend was everywhere! This print isn’t slowing down any time soon and as you transition your wardrobe to cooler temperatures, get in on the craze with key pieces you can wear all season long.

The Return of the Cowboy Boot: Whether you love it or hate it, the cowboy boot is back. This trend started gaining popularity during festival season but it’s now heading into the fall season too. Designer Brandon Maxwell even had his Spring/Summer 2019 show invite attached to a pair of cowboy boots. Even thought these western boots may seem hard the style, the options are endless. Pairing the boots with an airy dress, denim on denim look, satin pants, shirt dress or even jumpsuit will up your fashion game 100% during the fall season. These boots can roam far beyond the farm!

Scarf-Style Hem: The silk scarf print was a key print this summer, the scarf-style hem is the latest addition for fall. I personally love this hem because it makes any dress feel elegant and flatters any body type. The scarf-style hem is becoming a closet staple for fall, from skirts to dresses- it’s a go-to statement piece.

Baggy Jeans: I used to only wear skinny jeans and could never see myself going back to baggy jeans however… this past year, I slowly started incorporating more boyfriend style/baggy jeans into my wardrobe and now feel like I won’t go back to skinny jeans! haha. Baggy jeans will make you rethink your skinny jean obsession, especially if they are a part of your regular wardrobe. The baggy jean style is now are more tailored with cool new details like tapered angles and high-rise waists, I love how wearable they are. I recently, just got this pair from ASOS that I’m loving.

Sheer Fabrics: I noticed this street style trend after my second day in NY, sheer fabrics where everywhereeee! While the idea of see-through clothing can feel intimidating, they are key layering pieces for fall and can easily be styled. I personally love wearing a transparent piece with a lace bralette, under a bold blazer. Sheer pieces are the perfect excuse to invest in a cute bralette and fun pieces to layer over.

Nighttime Slip: The nighttime slip dress is still going strong but this season we are seeing it more in a midi/maxi format. I loved how so many paired the slip dress with casual staples, like blazers and even layered over polo shirts and t-shirts. For even more of a casual vibe many paired with basic sneakers! This 90’s style trend is chic from season to season and works as a great layering piece for fall. This lingerie trend has proven to be a favorite of mine for cocktail events, a night out or just a layering piece.

Which trend will you be trying out this season? Comment below!
