Can you believe it's been 5 years since my very first blog post and when I started my Instagram account?? Time really does fly even though that sounds so cliche. Reflecting on my blog post 4 years ago HERE, I wanted to quickly recap where I'm at now in the year since that post and what this all means to me:
Even though I've been doing this for 5 years, really it's been 3 and a half years that I've been doing it full-time and I honestly can't imagine my life without making my own schedule and being my own boss- it really has been life changing (if you want to hear more about my journey before I quit my corporate job, I recently sat down for an interview with Idalia of @Realizationpodcast – you can listen to it HERE).
To be honest, this time last year I was so bored with my blog and Instagram- beyond uninspired and just doing the routine. After the holidays last year I really evaluated what I wanted for myself and for my brand. I started experimenting with different types of photos and content (some that were very outside my comfort zone but that felt more fresh) and on a whim I chopped off my hair and all my highlights, got rid of everyyy pair of skinny ripped jeans I used to feature and changed my IG handle to my name. I was donnnne with it.
It's normal to have up and down times with anything and if you're unhappy or bored with where you're at then DO something about it. Don't sit on it and complain- change something- do something different and try to see if that works. I never want to be a person so afraid of change that it hinders me long-term. Be open to growing and evolving.
This year I really feel like I've made the most progress in different goal areas that I had for myself mainly because of these changes. I booked my first national commercial and designed my first capsule clothing collection with INSPR. I'm much more inspired and excited about creating new content, but it also took a bit for me to get out of my old routine. That being said, heading into 2019 there will be more exciting changes once again! I'm shaving my head this time, haha JK. but stay tuned.
Let me know what you want to see more from me in the comments below! I always am really grateful for your guys love and support, especially those who have followed along since the very beginning!
This was super inspiring. I’m in a bit of a creative rut and afraid nobody will care about my content. But it really all just takes time, and this was pretty reassuring of that.
Aw it’s so good to hear that this helped! xx
