NYFW Fall 2018: Day 1

Another NYFW is here (my 6th season!). This time, we're staying at The James NoMad– which you may remember from when I stayed there last summer. The location is perfect and I love how it's centrally located near the shows and presentations. I love how modern yet warm the hotel is, such a nice spot to call home for the next week.

This day was in the 30s and my outfit for day consisted of a lot of layers! To start the day, we grabbed breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien. I know, I know- I eat there way too much in LA and I should be eating at new places in NY but their avocado toast is one of favorites- especially with the habanero sauce. Later in the afternoon, we also stopped at this cool new coffee shop in SoHo to refuel called Brooklyn Diamond, such great service and the coffee was on point.

Here are the shows and presentations I attended on the first day:

adidas Originals by Daniëlle Cathari Presentation

My first presentation of the day was Adidas Originals x Daniëlle Cathari. The brand partnered with Dutch designer Daniëlle Cathari, who debuted her collaboration this season. I loved her modern take on the signature Adidas tracksuits and vibrant colors. I can't believe she is only 23!

The collection will be available in two releases, the first one will be this February following the second in April, so stay tuned. I loved the 90's vibe and styling- the tracksuits are seriously so cool. Walking into the presentation you were transported into a colorful jungle gym, swings included.

Check out a few of my current favorite Adidas pieces available now:

1. UltraBoost Running Shoe

2. Adibreak Sweatshirt

3. Adicolor Red SST Track Pants

Cinq à Sept Presentation

Cinq à Sept is known for their feminine fabrics/details mixed with striking silhouettes! Their presentation this season was at the The Pierre hotel, located in the ballroom. I loved the glamorous old romantic vibe. The presentation was set up with tables around the ballroom, each filled with petite pastry trays, “menus” and handwritten notes. It reminded me of a Parisian cafe.

The collection itself was inspired by the fast-pace world of technology/social media and how we have started to remember and miss when the pace was slower. I loved all the florals and ribbons throughout the collection, especially the love letter print. It was such a personal collection filled with romance and femininity.

Check out a few of my current favorite Cinq à Sept pieces below:

1. Wide-Leg Pants with Ruffled Details

2. Coletta Sweetheart Chiffon Cocktail Dress

3. Alle Twist-Front Top

Stuart Weitzman Presentation

The Stuart Weitzman presentation was held at The Pool, a really cool restaurant located in what used to be The Four Seasons. The space was really cool and coincided with the modern statement shoes on display.

The pre-fall collection had so many chic standout shoes and go-boots. I loved all the hardware, toe shapes and how the collection incorporated so much texture and color! The presentation also showcased handbags which will be launching in the fall. I was obsessed with the signature “Blue Violet” color used throughout the presentation.

Check out a few of my favorite Stuart Weitzman shoes that are available now:

1. The Stitchwork

2. The Vigor Bootie

3. Limbow Flat

ADEAM nyfw fall 2018 feat
Adeam Runway

My first runway show of the day was ADEAM. The designer, Hanako Maeda, generally takes inspiration from New York and Tokyo and her collections usually incorporate a very east meets west vibe.

The show was held at the Beekman Hotel, which is an updated historic hotel. The location really set the mood for the show, with the exposed brick and dark woodwork. The collection was inspired by the “modern girls” of Japan in the 1920s. and included wide leg pants, the use of Kimono-inspired fabric and drop waist dresses.

The collection won't be available until Fall 2018 but check out a few of my favorite pieces that are available now:

1. Twist Sweater

2. Paperbag Trouser

3. Flared Dress

What I Wore

I wore this really feminine ADEAM flounce dress to the show. I loved the ruffle detailing and the light pink color. Because it's chilly in NY, I layered a black turtleneck under the dress and topped it off with a bright red oversized sweater to create a color block look. The color blocking trend has been around for awhile but recently I've noticed brighter hues even in the winter perfect to transition from winter to spring.

My sweater was a bit bulky, so I added a belt to cinch my waist. I received so many questions about my Chanel bag- I simply knotted the chain around my waist and tucked it into my belt to keep it snug and that easily converted it to be worn as a belt bag.

Check out a few of my favorite color blocking pieces to incorporate into your wardrobe, including a similar pink dress + sweater!

creatures of comfort nyfw fall 2018 feat
Creatures of Comfort Runway

My final show of the day was Creatures of Comfort, you may remember the brand from my previous blog post here. They're one of my favorites because of their soft knitwear and comfort classics- especially the high waisted trousers.

The fall/winter collection was inspired by everyday complexity, buttoned-up reserves mixed with darkness and contrasting moods. The collection included mixed sequins with classic suiting, antique marbled prints and polka dots. The collection is playful but still bold and had cool girl vibe to it.

Creatures of Comfort introduced some new handbag styles included an amazing puff bag. I was obsessed with the moto boots as well!

The collection won't be available until Fall 2018 but check out a few of my favorite pieces that are available now:

1. Small Boulder Bag

2. Maison Pant

3. Gloria Leather & Mesh Slingback Pumps
