My 2018 Goals

Happy 2018! Am I too late? It’s already the second week of January and I just sat down over the weekend to think about what I wanted to accomplish over this new year. I think the problem with goal setting is not having an action plan to actually carry it out- and just as important to setting the goal is to figure out how to get there.

Family

Making more memories this year and really being in the moment, it’s so tempting to grab our phone or computer- but having at least an hour a day with no screen time or our air pods and just being together as a family. We are committing to having breakfast together in the morning before Jadyn goes to school instead of being crazy in the morning and doing our own things before we get her out the door. I’m hoping this small change will also help us start our day more relaxed.

Friends

I want to make more of an effort for my closest friends, I would say I’m a good friend but I don’t make efforts to hang out or set aside the time to get together- I’m more a WhatsApp friend most of the time, you may talk to me pretty often but whens the last time we actually hung out? Hell if I knew. Anthony is even worse than me in that area and it’s something he wants to work on too- just because we have a family doesn’t mean friends aren’t as important- I’m even closer to some of my friends than my extended family and it’s really important to keep those relationships as a priority.

I’m going to set aside time at least once a month to make sure I see my closest friends in person.

Health

I want this year to be my strongest one yet, I work out and eat pretty healthy but I want to take it up a notch.

I plan to workout 5 days a week and doing one outdoor activity as a family on the weekends, whether it be a hike, bike ride or run, etc. I think it’s not only important for my well being but sets a good example for Jadyn as well to get outside and move.

Education

I read a quote that the average CEO reads 60 books per year. Um what? I definitely don’t read that much- maybe one book a month- but in no way am I reading 5 books a month. There’s so many nonfiction books I’ve had on my wishlist to read and never got around to it. I decided I may not need to read cover to cover but I want to at least cover the important parts of each book.

I recently downloaded the Blinkist app and love it- it’s really helped me read quickly plus I can do it in the car with the audio version.

Website

I want my website to always be a resource for my readers and making sure this year we expand in categories I’ve been thinking about since last year, along with reviving some other areas.

You’ll be able to count on more regular content in a new category I’ll be adding soon. Also the blogging tips will be getting a new upgraded dedicated section, really excited about this and something Anthony will be spearheading.
